Undoing Racism in Lexington

January 5, 2008

There’s no denying the fact that racial injustice is deeply entrenched in Lexington’s culture.  Many of the blog posts I’ve written here deal with the problem in some way. What’s the solution?

Probably nothing of significance will happen until meaningful and purposeful dialogue takes place. That’s why I’m excited to learn that the Cabinet for Health and Family Services in Lexington is sponsoring a series of Undoing Racism workshops this spring. As I understand them, the workshops will deal with the issue of race and welfare and how that shakes down in Fayette County, Kentucky.

There’s a workshop group in each of the early spring months, I believe, and I encourage any and all people to look into them.
