Noam Chomsky on Sports
Ever since the World Series ended, I’ve been watching about 12 fewer hours of sports programming on television. I’m often ashamed of how much time I dedicate to watching sports, and, at the same time, I’m often scared of the reality that sports is the great social opiate. As Noam Chomsky said in a lecture some years ago, the established sports media machine instills total passivitiy. I’ve attached a .pdf of a transcription from a lecture Chomsky delivered. It’s interesting, and worth the read. More thoughts to follow

thank you, the attached chomsky article was amazingly insightful.
